Like Judo, a great deal of Taekwondo as an ART has been lost in its transition to an Olympic SPORT.
Chung Do Kwan is an original martial art with great power and hand techniques.
Chung Do Kwan is a different style than modern Olympic sport Taekwondo.
There is a big difference in training for the ring versus the street.
It is important to understand that different isn’t necessarily better.
It really is a matter of preference and what your goals and desired benefits are.

Many techniques have been removed from both Judo and Taekwondo to make them more palatable in a sport setting. Also, the training environment and style have changed to suit the needs of the modern tournament setting. Thus, many of the traditional benefits have been lost. Others have been gained, though, so it is important to weigh what is best for you and your family and do your own research.

Chung Do Kwan’s techniques were developed in war-time.
Great knowledge is reserved for the inner circle due to its unconventionality, sheer brutality, and effectiveness. Chung Do Kwan still exists as its own entity in Korea today, standing apart from modern tournament and Olympic sport Taekwondo.

It was the most respected & influential of the original schools that were blended to form modern Taekwondo. In fact, Won Kuk Lee was the teacher of many of the Kwan’s founders!
His Blue Wave school is the oldest of the Kwans.
Its practitioners are proud of its heritage as a discreet art. It is a style that has not been stripped of its Japanese influence, devastating techniques, or formed in the comforts of peacetime discussions.

Many mysteries and subtle nuances are hidden within this unique martial art –
known for it’s powerful side kicks and hand techniques.
Chung Do Kwan had no political agenda when blending the best techniques from Japanese Karate –
and Korean & Chinese martial arts, like Tangsudo. Ultimately the art can trace it’s lineage back to the legendary Hwarang warriors…some 2000 years ago.

I have spent a great deal of time and effort modernizing my curriculum
to offer you and your family the best of both worlds.
I hope you take the time to learn more about
Mile High Blue Wave Taekwondo Academy.
